This book was a special project. It was my gift to my brother and his new bride. The wedding was last weekend in beautiful San Diego, so I can finally share the book with everyone. For their engagement shoot, they chose to wear their wedding attire so that they could spend more time with friends and family on the wedding day. It was a complete surprise to me when I saw the pictures. Then I saw they even did a first look! Luckily I don’t think my brother ever checks this site out, so I can share that he cried!

Unfortunately, they loved the book so much, they could not bring themselves to let people sign in it as planned. So I don’t have photos with the signatures… oh well! Still a gorgeous book! And check out the shot I made their centerfold! It never looks like that in Philadelphia…

Their pre-wedding photos and wedding day were shot by Sara & Jeremy or Sara France Photography. I cannot wait to see what is in store for use from the wedding!

Now this is the dream scenario for album designing isn’t it?

Carm & Dave just got married a few months ago. Having so many amazing images to choose from, she asked for the album to be designed for her. Kamila Harris sent me EVERY image from the wedding that had 3 photographers. All 1700 of them. This was late Thursday night. On Monday morning, I uploaded the album for Carmela & Dave to preview and make any changes. Carm made very few comments, and the next night, we had an approval! Of an album that had about 50% more sides than originally planned

Now that you have seen the detail that went into this wedding – can you see why I loved it so much? I have seen A LOT of wedding pictures. When you can tell from the images just how much emotion there was through the day like you can from these….ahhh…I love it! And the Mario & Peach cake topper doesn’t hurt…I have the same little figures

Seriously – is it Thursday already? We just returned last night from almost a week in San Diego, and I want a do-over. We had perfect weather the day of our arrival. Walked about 8 miles through the city exploring a bit, and from there…..cold wet cold. It was beautiful there while it was snowing in Philadelphia, so I can’t complain too much, but I was expecting to be in skirts and sunshine everyday.

Oh well…..

Alas, I am back in cold dreary Philadelphia, so I needed an album that would give me a bit of a pick up. Something bright and sunny. And not to mention…..Gorgeous! I love this book’s layout. Maybe someday I will post the entire thing, since I can’t get enough of it…but for now, rather than bog down your internet….here are some of my favorite spreads!

holidays! deadlines, days off, & discounts! oh my!

Now that I have met all my Queensberry holiday cutoff deadlines I feel like a new woman! Luckily, so many other album companies have later deadlines, so if you want to get some more albums to clients before the holidays it isn’t too late! I am keeping up with my maximum 3 business day turn around and can promise that at least through the end of November!

I do however need days off just like everyone else. Weekdays that will not be counting towards turnaround times thru the end of the year are: 11/26, 11/27, 12/4, 12/9, 12/24, 12/25, 12/31.

I am also still holding to 7 business days for processing weddings! Have any 2009 clients outstanding? Get them their images soon so they can get you all those glorious holiday orders! Prints, Holiday Cards, Thank You’s, Oh My!

album design: vintage glam models: Starlets

While I prefer my wedding album design to be either a clean & modern design, or a color block design, I tend to stay away from the wedding albums that (in my opinion) look like a scrapbook threw up. You know what I am referring to…Drop shadows, cut-outs, multiple overlays, oh my! So Scary….

About a month ago, I posted the cover to an album that I had created (see the post here). The Starlet Sessions sample book was such a fun project for me, and being able to tie it all together with the cover design just made it even better! This book was/is the complete opposite of what I am normally working with. The goal was not to focus on the story of the day that the images tell. The goal of this book was to highlight the mood, style, feel of a Starlet Sessions shoot. The book had to match the vintage glam that is “Starlet Sessions”. It was so much fun! I loved looking up all sorts of vintage stamps, postcards, and photos to get a feel for what I wanted to do. And I think I managed to stylize the book quite nicely without overdoing it! I am very excited to hold the actual book and see it at Kamila’s studio grand opening this month!

Savanna & Jevon’s day was beautiful. I absolutely love when the kids are involved in the wedding photos. And their book is a wonderful fresh start to their new family! The crying room series is my favorite!! Although – the emotion during the speeches is a very close second. Congratulations!

starlet excitement

I cannot wait to post more about this book soon! I had a great time working on it and was very excited when the cover transformed from a typical album cover with a photo….to this:

Our inspiration was vintage suitcases with travel stickers on them. It was so much fun to see all the different stickers people have saved over the years and collections of stickers and fonts out there. The Starlet Sessions by Kamila Harris are vintage inspired fashion shoots. She hosts them in her studio in Philadelphia and on location in Wildwood, NJ. I had a ton of fun designing each sticker using some of the favorites from the many Starlet Sessions. And even more fun was modifying Kamila’s logo so that she now has a Starlet Sessions logo. I love fonts, especially deco-inspired anything, so this was a treat of a project!

More from the book to come soon! There is a Starlet Session scheduled for October 31 in Kamila’s Chestnut Hill Studio. Check it out!

Another great wedding from Kamila Harris Photography that is long overdue to be posted up here! Kim & Karl are so obviously happy and so appreciative of their friends and family. I love how this is reflected so much in their images, and even more-so that it was important for Kim to make sure that was shown in her album! Here are a few of my favorite layouts that really show off exactly what I am talking about.

I LOVE storyboards in albums. I am dying to post one that I worked on recently, but it is a Punta Cana wedding and I am waiting until winter when we will al need the island pick-me-up!
