Not a typical graphic design post..

This is our last week before my due date. I won’t deny, I am involved in multiple blogs, but this one seemed to be the best fit for where to share the photos of our nursery for the still unnamed “Bean”. It is design after all. We aren’t quite finished yet. We are waiting on a print for over the dresser, and we’ll hang a few more things, but for now, I had to share what I had! Who knows if I will be back at the computer anytime soon!

We went with a jungle theme, but then I slightly modified it to add dots. I decided all jungle would get a bit overwhelming. Clearly I was not concerned about the color being overwhelming. I debated between light gray and green. A few people discouraged using a blah color for a baby room combined with the fact that I want to paint our living room gray, allowed the green to win.

The color is Lowe’s VOC-Free Olympic Paint in Green Pear. Cloud B makes the Gentle Giraffe and the Twilight Turtle nightlight and they will make the room into a perfect little jungle at night. While picking out things for the room and the baby I absolutely fell in love with Skip*Hop products. The ‘Hare Brush’ and the small Bin-Go are on the right. I have 3 of the small bin go’s. One for the dresser, another filled with diapers for our room or where ever he might end up, and I am sure the third will end up quite an essential as well.

The bedding is also Skip*Hop. It’s their Mod Dot pattern. I love that it uses brown AND gray. Our lion buddy is by NoJo and actually went with the original bedding we picked out.

Since I am using cloth diapers, a standard diaper pail was out of the question. I love all my other simplehuman products, and when I saw their colored retro collection I couldn’t resist. I ended up with the 30L pail for diapers, which holds a PlanetWise pail liner perfectly. And simplehuman was nice enough to send me a super hard to find mini blue step can for the trash!

When I first started searching for inspiration for the nursery, I came across a photo with an antique rocking chair. I sent it to my mom asking if she knew where we could find something like that. She ended up finding almost the exact chair at a goodwill store for $10 and having it refinished for me! It was such an awesome surprise at my shower!

No nursery in this area would be complete without some sort of Phillies paraphernalia. And the large Bin Go will be great for holding all of his toys! I just really wish Skip*Hop still made them so I could pick up a few bigger ones. They collapse down to nothing for easy storage, and the handles make them beyond easy to take toys from one room to another.

Last, but not least, the mobile. I could not for the life of me find a typical baby mobile that I was happy with. They are kind of ridiculous in price, and you have to buy that thing that holds it on the crib separately. Dumb. I was content with no mobile at all, but Pete seemed like he wanted one…so I started the hunt.

I instantly fell in love with The Wonderland Studio on Etsy. After hemming and hawing about it for a couple months, I saw one that seemed to be almost the perfect color scheme. I just didn’t think green circles on the green wall would do it. Rachel was more than happy to work with me and sent me every combination I could dream of. Once I was happy, she had the final product to me in less than a week! WITH all the hanging supplies!

I can’t thank everyone who had a hand in putting this room together enough. Going in there makes me so happy already, I can’t imagine what it will be like once there is a little baby in there as well!!
