I used to always pass by a maternity store named Belly and think it was the cutest thing in the world. When the owner retired, Elizabeth and Chelsea paired up to take over. Renaming the store From Belly to Baby, they started their business while finishing up school. This was temporary while they worked to create the brand they were dreaming up…Showing With Style. The name they came up with is so perfect. When you walk into the store, if you aren’t already pregnant, I kid you not, you either want to be pregnant, or at least know someone pregnant.
[. . . . .]

I won’t deny, I (not currently or ever in the past pregnant) own a shirt from the store. I try to pull it off as a dress, but it is just a bit too short.

When Chelsea found out I was a graphic designer, one of the first thing she asked me was if I could help them create a vector from a sketch. Not a typical request, but it was nice that she knew what a vector was, and that she needed one Alice Dake had created a sketch for them that was simply beautiful. I was honored to be able to be involved in helping them create their new look, and I simply love it.

original artwork by Alice Dake, trademark design by Angelique Buckley

When they couldn’t decide on a final color for both of them, Chelsea came over for a bit and we played around to create a few samples for her and Elizabeth. Chelsea ended up with fuchsia and Elizabeth with lavender. The slight yellow background of the cards and the rounded corners are the perfect finishing touches to match the look and feel of the store. And I love that they went with 100% recycled paper!

Be sure to check out Alice ! And remember – designer’s don’t always have to work with a completely blank slate.

But every time I take on a new project, I take off my know-it-all hat and actually do some research. And this one was great! Jessica is a physical therapist, but she specializes in pediatric physical therapy. She also combines traditional therapy with water based therapy. Lastly, while the mind immediately goes to children when you think pediatric, she treats patients up to about 21. Jessica knew she wanted something that would be attractive to all her clients, from the youngest she treats, to the parents that bring them in. Something fresh, but not too childish as to not insult her older patients. All of this combined with Cadence for a name, meant I had work to do!

I am really happy with the results, and we found something we both loved pretty quickly once I shared with Jessica what I was focusing on. So without further ado…. the new CadencePT mark….What do you think?
