Way back when I didn’t have a baby I worked on a design project that was loads of fun. We started working on this for WPPI 2010 when she first started promoting the DVDs that were being prepped! It seems like forever ago now.

What’s really awesome is that now Aperture is even more accessible. You can download it right form the App Store on your Mac and for only $79.99. Super cheap right? Despite my complete Apple fandom, I am a Lightroom user though, I can’t deny it. Maybe someday I will make the switch. I started with Aperture and we broke up since Lightroom was easier for me when Aperture was in its infancy. It has come leaps and bounds, and if you want training on it, Sara’s DVD’s are definitely the way to go! Oh, you want your training instantly? You can download everything too! I made the adorable buttons on her store site as well. Check it out.

One of my Christmas gifts this year from my most awesome husband was the collection of images from a shoot we did earlier in the year with Nicole Polk. With all the crazy blizzards we had in the Philadelphia area in February of 2010, we had offered to be models for her in the snow. These images seemed like the perfect thing for our Christmas card. I stuck with matte paper this year since I have had some sort of odd draw to it lately. Especially with a white card it just seems brighter.

<p style="text-align:
[. . . . .]

Ok, enough with the cuddling… How could we be surrounded by all that snow and not have a snowball fight? We are so mature!

Baby making keeps a girl busy. Shower invites and thank you cards.
[. . . . .]

I know, I know… It has been absolutely forever since I have last posted. I have been designing, and have plenty to post up here in the near future. In the past 6 months a lot has changed. I now work with the Queensberry Photojunction team helping out with Photojunction support. (I did say I was a nerd…). We moved! We are now homeowners. And with that comes many trips to Lowe’s, Best Buy, etc. A broken dishwasher meant my blogging and internet time was taken up by hand washing dishes. Before we moved, we were in the throws of finding a place to move to and all the fun that goes along with that.

The main thing keeping me busy, however, has been a personal project. If you follow me on Twitter, you already know. In about two months, I expect my internet presence to slow down even more for a little while… Of course, being as controlling as I am, my mom knew I would want to be involved in my shower invitation :) Since we couldn’t find exactly what we wanted, I had to make it :) ProDPI did a fantastic job with the printing!

I absolutely LOVE argyle! Unfortunately, the people who design things for babies, don’t think argyle is cute unless it is in pastels (not a huge fan). So the baby shower ended up being the end of the road for my argyle decor (for now). But it was only the beginning for the love of monkeys!

Of course I needed perfectly coordinated thank you cards. This time around there was a request for an elephant…

A bit more argyle, and possibly one of our favorite pictures of Bean so far on the back :)

The best part of all of this for me was the Christmas present I received from ProDPI. They requested the thank you card as a sample. Yay!

We are sticking with jungle animals and since I couldn’t find the argyle that I wanted, I switched to the next best pattern… polka dots. More to come, I am sure…

I used to always pass by a maternity store named Belly and think it was the cutest thing in the world. When the owner retired, Elizabeth and Chelsea paired up to take over. Renaming the store From Belly to Baby, they started their business while finishing up school. This was temporary while they worked to create the brand they were dreaming up…Showing With Style. The name they came up with is so perfect. When you walk into the store, if you aren’t already pregnant, I kid you not, you either want to be pregnant, or at least know someone pregnant. I won’t deny, I (not currently or ever in the past pregnant) own a shirt from the store. I try to pull it off as a dress, but it is just a bit too short.

When Chelsea found out I was a graphic designer, one of the first thing she asked me was if I could help them create a vector from a sketch. Not a typical request, but it was nice that she knew what a vector was, and that she needed one Alice Dake had created a sketch for them that was simply beautiful. I was honored to be able to be involved in helping them create their new look, and I simply love it.

original artwork by Alice Dake, trademark design by Angelique Buckley

When they couldn’t decide on a final color for both of them, Chelsea came over for a bit and we played around to create a few samples for her and Elizabeth. Chelsea ended up with fuchsia and Elizabeth with lavender. The slight yellow background of the cards and the rounded corners are the perfect finishing touches to match the look and feel of the store. And I love that they went with 100% recycled paper!

Be sure to check out Alice ! And remember – designer’s don’t always have to work with a completely blank slate.
