my favorite time of year

I can’t deny Autumn is one of my favorite times of year. But Winter is almost as good. If it weren’t for having to driving in the snow, or ridiculous electric bills….winter would be great. I am a sucker for sweaters. And think about it…Summer…you can only take so much off if you are hot. Winter is a great excuse to get snuggly under a blanket. But another reason I LOVE winter.

FOOD.

I am a food junkie and winter is the greatest time for it. Think of all the holiday meals, the cookies, the dinner parties. It is the time of year to make a slow cooking chili, or really any hot soup (I LOVE soup). Last night I made an A-MAY-ZING Potato soup that was about 50% roasted garlic & shallots. YUM. It’s the time of year for cookies and spices, and spices in cookies! And tea. Although, I don’t discriminate against tea year round. I can’t leave out one of the best parts of winter. Hot Chocolate. This year, Pete and I have been hooked on spicy hot chocolates. Hot chocolates with chai spices, or chili peppers. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, I can’t wait to have some tonight.

I just picked up a few new cookbooks that I am very excited about. So excited, that I looked through every single page last night and listed EVERY recipe I want to try in them. I decided this was the way to go rather than putting it on a shelf and never actually getting to use it. I may end up listing recipes from all my cookbooks. You can find my list from the newest books here. I will be marking them off as I make them as well! And while you wait for me to make some SCRUMPTIOUS new recipes…here are some of our Fall/Winter food adventures :)
