making the wedding yours

This doesn’t have anything to do with photography. But no one ever said that was the only thing this blog was about. Things have been very hectic since we are getting ready for two weddings in the upcoming months of friends and family. I was looking for something a bit more fun to post this week (I have a few things I am really excited about posting next week!). I know everyone loves the album layouts ;) And each of my posts usually end up crediting an artist in some way, so I decided to brag about another artist that helped my special day.

We didn’t technically have a theme for our wedding day except to have fun. My husband loves comic books, and I won’t deny that any kiddie version of a super hero is cute. We wanted to give everyone who had done something for us an “event staff” t-shirt. Yes – we are HUGE nerds. It couldn’t be just any t-shirt. We had to make it ours. We wanted a picture of us. But we definitely did not want a photo of us on a shirt. Come on – who is going to wear that?

This is where the love of comics comes in. Pete (my husband) commissioned comic artist Chris Giarrusso to do a wedding “portrait” of the two of us. Armed with just pictures we had posted on a homepage, he came up with two different sketches. We quickly eliminated a more posed, under some flowers “portrait”, and he finalized our masterpiece below.

The moral of the story is…brides, grooms, whoever is reading this….your wedding day is about the two of you. Make sure everyone knows it :) And have a great time. And there is nothing to stress about! And make sure you check out Chris’s work, because not only is it awesomely cute, it is really funny :) And for anyone wondering why this is in the inspiration category….because it makes me happy.
